The Doctor of Philosophy programme in the field of Bioprocess Engineering (PKKB) at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) is offered on a full-time basis, with a duration of study ranging from a minimum of three (3) years to a maximum of eight (8) years. The research program assessment encompasses progress reports, supervisor's evaluations, research proposals, and a viva voce examination. The programme aims to incorporate both continuing and advanced knowledge in bioprocess engineering, enabling students to formulate hypotheses, design and execute scientifically rigorous experiments or research to solve and evaluate observed phenomena. Critical analysis and evaluation of problems in related areas are emphasized, utilizing effective thinking skills, particularly in situations with limited information, and providing solutions through the application of appropriate tools and techniques. Effective communication of ideas and technical findings, both in written and oral forms, is a key aspect of the programme. Students are expected to plan and perform research undertakings professionally, ethically, and responsibly, while also engaging in lifelong learning to meet the needs of continuing professional development.
