The Master of Music (Performance Studies) programme provides extensive training in musical performance across all genres and styles. Students receive individualised tutoring, participate in ensemble performances, and give solo recitals to improve their technical skills and artistic expression. The emphasis is on historical and cultural awareness, producing versatile musicians prepared for careers in performance, education, and cultural leadership.

Entry Requirements

 

Candidates may be admitted into the programme by meeting the 4 requirements:

  1. Academic Requirements
  2. English Language Requirements
  3. Music Audition Requirements
  4. Professional Profile

Academic Requirements

Candidates must meet either of the following requirements:

Bachelor Degree in the field or related fields,

  • With the minimum CGPA 2.5 or equivalent, or
  • With the minimum CGPA 2.0 but can be accepted subject to rigorous internal assessment, or other equivalent qualification recognized by the Malaysian government.

Music Audition Requirements 

for each programme qualifications( e.g For piano:The entire programme should be at least 20 minutes with a minimum of three contrasting styles... etc)

Professional Profile

Professional documentation is required when submitting the application. These documents include:

  • A list of repertoires studied and performed in the last five years
  • Resume or curriculum vitae
  • Two recommendation letters from individuals that are familiar with:
    • your growth, talent, and accomplishment
    • your attitude and characteristic that indicate your ability and potential to succeed in the field.

Future Careers 

professional musicians, soloists, orchestral performers, chamber musicians, or members of ensembles in various genres ranging from classical to jazz to contemporary music.
