Taylor's University Malaysia ?

Master of Food Studies degree at Taylor's University Malaysia provides advanced study and research possibilities in the subject of food studies. Students participate in extensive research projects and multidisciplinary cooperation under the direction of experts and in cutting-edge facilities. Graduates are equipped to contribute to the growth of knowledge and innovation in sectors connected to food through professions in academia, research facilities, the food business, and governmental agencies.

Research Methodology:

Students are required to pass the Research Methodology modules (6 credit hours) in the first year of their candidature.

Key Research Areas:

  • Food Cultures & Health

Consider how social interactions, particularly in multiethnic communities, shape individual and group identities. Also consider the tensions that arise between social and medical standards. Influence how public health messaging are tailored in Malaysia to the country's sociocultural and socioeconomic conditions. Help public health strategies move from a population- and science-based approach to one that is target group- and social reality-based.

  •  Gastronomy, Heritage & Tourism

Examine how food heritages are defined and how they relate to the formation of group identities. Give advice to organizations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) working on population-led and territorial development projects that depend on food legacy as a socio-economic, socio-cultural, and political resource.

  • Food Security & Sustainability

Consider food security in relation to international health and environmental concerns, as well as debates over food distribution, production, processing, and consumption. Describe the possibilities for the development of insect-based food and feed formulation as an expanding industrial industry in Asia.

  •  Food Safety, Fraud & Risk

Investigate how people perceive food risk, how group risk management plans are created, and what circumstances lead to the creation of food regulations. Keep an eye on food-related issues and review the principles for mitigating food fraud in Asia.

Candidates who do not have a degree in a related discipline or relevant work experience must complete the necessary preparatory courses as decided by Taylor University and achieve the required minimum CGPA.
